Bulgaria adopted the euro on 1 January 2026. Unless otherwise indicated, all time series including observations for January 2026, the first quarter of 2026 or 2026 reflect the euro area including Bulgaria for the whole time series. Details on the calculation of euro area aggregates are provided in the General notes.

As of 4 February 2026 onwards, the euro area HICP inflation will undergo major methodological changes, according to the announcement by Eurostat. On the same day, the ECB will also discontinue the current Indices of Consumer Prices - ICP dataset on the ECB Data Portal and replace it with a new HICP dataset that will accurately reflect the methodological changes by Eurostat. With the release of the October 2025 results, the main aggregates of the CES are now available on the ECB Data Portal. The series will be updated on a monthly basis. Read more about the latest results in the press release and visit the CES web page for additional information.

The ECB has introduced new series for Insurance Corporations (ICB), which include data on transactions and annual growth rates for currency and deposits, loans, equity, and asset-side insurance technical reserves within the Euro Area.

The SDW web services API were repointed to the ECB Data Portal API as of the official ECB Data Portal go-live two years ago. Currently user requests are automatically redirected from https://sdw-wsrest.ecb.europa.eu to https://data-api.ecb.europa.eu, these redirections will be running only until October 1st, 2025. The dissemination of Consolidated Banking Data (CBD) with reference date of end-March 2025 will take place later than usual, on 19 September 2025, due to a change in the transmission calendar for the underlying supervisory data. This change is driven by the impact of the EU Banking Package (CRR3 and CRDVI) in the supervisory reporting requirements. 

As of end-March 2025, new data structure naming conventions will replace specific indicators in the Short-term Business Statistics (STS) dataset. The new datasets for Car Registrations (CAR) and Non-Energy Commodity Index (NEC) are now live. For smooth transition from STS to CAR and NEC datasets refer to the one-to-one mapping of series keys.

The ECB publishes for the first time four new wage tracker indicators for the aggregate of seven participating euro area countries on the ECB Data Portal. The indicators will be published regularly in the week following monetary policy meetings, on Wednesday at 12:00. Read more in the press release and The ECB Blog post.

New details on loans granted by other financial institutions (OFIs) and information on debt securities issuance of non-financial corporations (NFCs) via financing conduits is now available as part of the quarterly sector accounts data set. Financing conduits are OFIs that raise funds by issuing debt securities to be used by their parent corporation. More information in the press release.

New information on a separate breakdown for special purpose entities (SPEs) in euro area balance of payments and international investment position statistics is now available. More information in the press release.

New experimental statistics offer information on the distribution of wealth across household wealth deciles, housing and working status, including indicators of inequality and household debt. More information in the press release.

New statistical data on the composition of government debt in the euro area is now available. With these new breakdowns the Government Finance Statistics (GFS) dataset now also provide information on type of funding and creditor sectors. You can find the data in an interactive report in the “Publications” section.

Employment national accounts data (ENA) will be merged into the Main aggregates national accounts dataset (MNA) as of 11 September 2023. Thereafter the ENA dataset will be discontinued.

Registrations of commercial vehicles will not be updated until further notice. The reporting frequency will change from monthly to quarterly.

The SDW web services API are repointed to the ECB Data Portal API (https://data-api.ecb.europa.eu) as of EDP official go-live. API request syntax will remain unchanged, as data structures and codifications remain the same. User requests are automatically redirected for at least a year from SDW API to the new address.

As of the release of January-2023 data, seasonally adjusted time series for passenger car registration data (STS) will only be provided for the euro area. Calendar-adjusted series will be discontinued entirely.

Seasonally adjusted data of the euro area HICP flash estimate could not be produced, because the set of required input information is incomplete, as always with flash releases in January.

Croatia adopted the euro on 1 January 2023. Unless otherwise indicated, all time series including observations for January 2023, the first quarter of 2023 or 2023 reflect the euro area including Croatia for the whole time series. 

The ECB releases for the first time statistics on insurance corporations’ written premiums, incurred claims and acquisition expenses. The data are annual and are available from 2017. For the euro area aggregate data, a breakdown by type of insurer (reinsurance, life, non-life and composite) is available.
