OFI statistics currently contain selected balance sheet items for financial corporations engaged in lending to households and non-financial corporations (FCLs).
FCLs resident in the euro area, which is a sub-sector of “Other financial intermediaries, except insurance corporations and pension funds” (OFIs), S.125, in the European System of Accounts 2010 (ESA 2010).

Annual OFI data for FCLs are available starting with reference period 2010.
The data are collected and compiled by the NCBs or national statistical institutes and transmitted to the to the ECB.

For information about the naming convention (series key dimensions and metadata), refer to the OFI underlying DSD (ECB_OFI1) maintained by the ECB.
Data are aggregated across individual entity in each Member State by NCBs or national statistical institutes to derive contributions to the aggregated balance sheet of the corresponding OFI sector.
Based on the verification of balance sheet constraints, plus checks on plausibility of developments at various levels of aggregation based on time-series techniques and judgement.
Revisions to previous period are accepted routinely, while revisions to periods further in history are taken into account under certain conditions.

Quality is ensured by means of a comprehensive legal framework included in Guideline ECB/2014/15 , Article 15.

The framework for the transmission of OFI statistics is laid down in Guideline ECB/2014/15 , Article 15. The discontinued investment fund dataset within OFI statistics were reported under the framework laid down in Guideline ECB/2003/2, annex XVIII, which has been repealed.
